Zoodad worth the trouble?

Is the Zoodad mod really worth the cutting and what not? Anybody notice any HP/Torque gains? Mileage?

I hear they do more on the 6.0 then the 7.3.

It really didn't take long, and if you like fooling with your truck its a decent 1 hour job tops.

i didnt notice anything when i did it but the concept makes since to me. When you do it you can really see how it would ram air into the filter.

id say its worth it. i dont have any hp... tq... mpg... gain numbers. but before i did this mod my intake temp was always 10-11* higher the the outside air temp. (i used the outside temp on the truck and intake air temp was off the sct) after the mod both intake temp and outside air temps stayed exactly the same. also it helped keep the IAT temps down while sitting at stop lights but i dont have any numbers for that.

I was talkin about doing it to my truck at the get together this weekend...and one of the guys said if I did my truck would be a "toy truck" because I couldn't take it off road after doing the zoodad mod...is this true?

no??? im assuming hes talking about mud and stuff. the zoodad wouldn't affect that. if you get mud on your truck its gonna splash and go on your grille first. and if a little piece of mud or whatever does get threw that hole, thats why you have a air filter. some people also put a screen on the hole for better protection.

Zoodad is more of a "fun mod".. I maybe saw cooler intake temps, which is always good.

I wouldn't say this mod has any "trouble" to speak of. Gives ya somethin to do for an hour or so to get ya out of the house.

That is not true. I have gone muddin in my truck numerous times and have never gotten mud on my filter. If you look at it, it would be very hard for mud to get splashed up to get to the filter through that hole. If it makes you feel better you can put some screen type material over it. Thats what i did.

Gutter mesh, i painted it black to match.
