SCT Unlocked?

I'm meeting a guy on Wednesday who has an SCT SF3 for sale locally. He says the vehicle was flashed back to stock which would mean the tuner is unlocked. Is there an easy way to tell by connecting it to my vehicle that its unlocked? Excuse my noobishness as I have never used one of these before. Also I'm able to get all software I may need from the SCT website right?

once you plug it in to the OBDII port and it powers on, it will say if its locked or unlcoked
