six gun question

hey guys....i have a question for yall.....my service writers buddy is buying a used truck we have in here with a 6.0......it has the six gun tuner on it.....i saw that there is an EGT sensor coming off the left manifold that is wired to the tuner....but there is no gauge......im just curious...does the six gun have some kind of "fail safe override" if the egt's get high or what is the sensor used for???.......Marc

Yeah, you can get an upgrade called the speedloader with the 6-gun. it wires right in the line comming from the box to the 6-pos switch. It adds an additional 28 hp if i remember right... It takes 350 degrees from watching my gauge for it to kick in. You can feel the extra power when it hits that mark... you don't need a gauge for it to work... Also it will de-fuel your truck when it hits like 1400 degrees or so.

6gun

marc...the egt probe is wired directly into the computer and the gauges are downline, unlike a normal probe which connects directly to the gauge, the computer provides egt safe guards as long as the speedloader is installed... thing is,the gauges come with the kit so why arent they on it? they can however be added later as a simple plug in...banks also recently upgraded to a pda controller which does not use gauges but instead dispays on the pda, but dont know too much about that

hey marc,
If it is a banks six gun it should be the 2" billet gauge or is it just the module under the hood? If its the 2" billet gauge type then that does have a built in pyro gauge that monitors your egts and you should be able to see those egt #s on the gauge itself.

Tim
