Volant Intake
Ok, AFE gets back to me and tells me that it will be some time before I have the part to resolve the problem with my intake. Honestly, I find it hard to believe that this intake would go into anyones 06 F-250 and work. So, I would stay away from thier product. They know there is a problem and they will tell you that you won't have a problem when you make the purchase, and the once in and the CE light comes on they are not prepared to make things right immediately. Screw that! I will wait for the proper part and then sell this thing on ebay. For now the stock intake goes back in.
Anyone have experiance with the Volant intakes on our trucks good or bad? It looks like a betterproduct to me and I wish I spotted it before the AFE. Scott |

There is some issue with volocity with the stage II that is causing the check engine light to come on in the 6.0. There have been a number of people complaining about this problem on different forums. The parts are all fine but my check engine light came on about 40 miles into the install. The power is good and the sound is good but I really don't want to be driving around for the next 6 months with the check engine light on.

AEM Brute force intake

Jim
no, AEM is a totally different intake. From what I hear, people really like them. The only thing is... I think they are open to all the engine heat unlike the volant and AFE which are in enclosed boxes. Airraid has one that is somewhat enclosed but I would do some searching on the internet about the intake you want and make sure people are satisfied with the product. Good luck Scott |

AFE updated
Ok, for the newer 6.0 guys interested in their intakes, I've sent back my Stage II intake for their (not yet on the market, new and improved, and a little less expensive) Stage II intake. I did a lot of research on this company before I made my originall purchase and believe they have the best filtration out there so I'm sticking it out with high hopes. It should be here in a few days and will update you all on the product. From what I'm told, the fix for the Stage II I received was a smaller tube leading into the turbo which would solve the volocity problem but that seemed to defeat the purpose to me. Anyway, 441.00 spent.... three weeks later and still stock in the intake dept. Later all Scott

the new intake
thought i'd pass on some info from scott about the intake (the latest STAGE II from AFE) that after hearing about (see his comments below) got me online to order mine instantly. monkey see monkey do. here goes: Lou, this intake is awesome! I was out on the highway tonight and the turbo hiss is freakin great! I could not help but to look for downed windows as I was approaching cars just so I could give her just a little gas...sorry, fuel. All you can hear is the turbo spooling and it sounds like a jet flying down the highway ( I'm grinning from ear to ear inside, LOL) the install was cake and it looks nice. No CEL. I can change out a stock intake in about 10 minutes now, I've done it enough. |

MAN! we sell all the intakes you guys are talking about and we never hear anything bad about them in a Ford. The Duramax guys sometimes get CEL's with the AFE, but I have yet to get a guy call with one on a ford. The AEM has a new DRYFLOW SYNTHETIC FILTER.....no need to oil. Just clean, dry, and re-install. Lots of guys are having very good luck with them, but AFE is by far the most requested intake for ANY diesel. I hope everything works out for you. I personaly run the AiRAID, blackstone says keep running it! Its AFE first then the AiRaid and AEM for second place as far as most requested from us. |

aFe Stage II junk
I bought a Stage II aFe and physically couldn't install it. I check the PN and it is supposed to be for the 2006 Powerstroke, but won't fit. The airbox intake tube is too long and hits sheet metal; yes I can cut to fit, but that ain't all the problem. The tube running from the backside of the box to the turbo really won't fit under the radiator overflow reservior. And to top that off, the MAF Sensor is located such that it hits the bottom of the radiator reservior as well. What in the crap? Is there a new pipe from the rear of the air box to the turbo that they failed to package with their "supposed" kit? If so, can anyone give me a POC at the company I can talk to about getting the revision hardware. Right now, looks like I spent good money for bad parts. Yeah, one size fits all! Right!!!
