Anyone else find the AFE Stage 2 intake a PITA to install???

I got a good deal off of eBay on an AFE Stage 2 intake for my 6.0L. It was sitting on my doorstep when I got home from work last night at about 5:30pm. I wasn't done installing it until a little after 8pm!

I thought 45 minutes at the most, but I couldn't get the damn housing to fit in the stock location and wrestled with the coolant expansion tank constantly. I finally had enough and pulled the driver's side battery completely out to make it fit. The lower bolt (of the three) that connects the main housing to the intake tract that holds the MAF was what also took up most of my time.

Anyway, just wanted to see if anyone else had a really hard time installing this specific intake? I like how it fits and looks once it is installed, but had I known it was going to be that difficult I would have gone with another.

I also like how quick and easy it is to access the filter. You can seriously replace the filter in about 2 minutes.

I hear ya, once you do it like 3 more times its really not that bad. I can get mine installed in like 15 minutes now. I know which combination of extensions works best for that bottom bolt and what position to have the degas bottle in etc.

Great intake though, nice choice. I recommend you get the pre-filter sock from AFE and their recharge kit. Also, to help cool EGT's down you can do the Zoodad mod.

Yeah, I had to use a standard socket connected to a universal connected to a 1.5" extension to get that bottom bolt.

The ZooDad mod is on my list to complete. I've been looking at the different ways people have been doing this mod and trying to figure out what will work and look best for me.

If this truck is a daily driver I recommend putting a pre-filter over the zoodad mod also, seems over kill but you'd be suprise as what gets sucked in there. I used a pre-filter material for snowmobile intakes, waterproof/snow proof yet still allows airflow.
