EGR cooer/valve delete question???l

Is there any downside at all with the installation of a full EGR cooler/valve delete? I have ask around my area and there are differing opinions. Just thought i would ask the experts! My truck is a 05 F250 with 140 000 miles and I do not want to cause any problems. My up pipe with the EGR flanged is cracked and it seems like a perfect time to do a delete. Any help would be appreciated...............Hillz

FYI - here on the forums under Mod Help there is a fantastic (pictures included) DIY full EGR delete. I had this exact process done. I printed the article and handed it to my mechanic. All done up pretty.

Since then - the only thing I can say is "Finally, whew." My engine runs cooler (I think - or so it should - sorry - no gauges yet to confirm this). Much more dependable and durable.

I spoke to 4 Ford Parts departments - all 4 of them agreed by deleting the EGR system the truck will run better. I have no complaints. Make sure your state is a diesel free emissions state. In other words - doesnt test emissions on diesel's. That would be the only downside.

Right on! Thanx for the reply. I did read the DIY article, that's kinda why this whole thing came up. That and the cracked pipe.

You can buy alot of great kits online and here on the forum - but its something you can do yourself too and save big money! My entire delete cost me $50. Its a full welded delete.
Anyhow - good luck and dont hesitate to contact us here and post a question.
