strategy update/
Is it necessary to get the lastest strat code prior to installing custom tunes. Do the tunes have to be based on the strat of your truck? I am having no problems with cold weather starts or anything that i am aware of. just thinking about buying a sct and some custom tunes and want to do it right.

your sct tunes have to be written to the dtrategy you are currently running, whether it be newest or what your truck came with

Its not neccessary, but advised. Since your tunes are written tailored to your trucks performance strategy code. Once you decide you need an updated ford calibration flash your old custom tunes may no longer work with the updated strategy code. This latest flash from ford is easier on your FICM, Automatically sweeps your VGT Turbro vanes at idle, and checks your EOT/ECT temps differences.

Yeah, if you have the VXCF7 series with the inductive heat flash that is known to kill the FICM's and cause cold start issues. Reflash it before you need a new FICM too.

sct and strategy?
what are the advantages of getting the latest flash prior to getting custom tunes for sct. Not sure what strategy i have, guess i need to go agead and buy sct to find out.I am not having any trouble with my truck now but have heard that i need to get the latest flash due to that is what the tunes are based on. Although i have heard some others talking about problems with power and decreased mpg after the latest flash. I want the most up to date information but dont want to do anything to worsen the stock performance. any help appreciated.

If you aren't having any trouble and you know you don't have the aggressive inductive heating, then leave it alone.
