What are the benefits of Stacks?
I'm drawn to the look, though it will mean my toolbox has to be removed. I am thinking about getting an SCT, which one is still up i the air. I want to know if there are any inherent benefits to running stacks other than looks. I already have a 4" Magnaflow exhaust on the truck .
Will the stacks be a lot louder? I assume they will lower my egt's? Are there any power and or fuel mileage improvements generally? As for my truck, 05 250 4x4 ccsb. The motor has around 7000 miles on it, it's a replacement, as the original destroyed itself at 148,000. No studs or any other mods. The dealer wouldn't put them in and give me the warranty but are willing to overlook a tuner being installed as long as it's removed before I bring it in for service. It's my daily driver and sees between 45-60,000 miles year. So, is it worth doing for anything other than looks? Thanks ya'll. |

If you drive that much a year you probably wont want them. They are actually quieter on the outside (not as raspy sounding as a straight pipe), but in cab is a bit louder and can be annoying. It's really only loud when you're getting up to speed, but once you're up cruising it's not terrible. I would definitely try and get a ride in a truck with them first and see what you think before you commit. You're not going to see any gains really over your 4". Just different looks and different noises.
