What signs are there of EGR problems?

I have an 05 F-250 with 64,500K miles with no issues. I have been reading alot of the posts in here about upgrades, tunes, head studs and EGR probs and I am curious what are some signs that one may have EGR issues? Also if I dont have any problems and I decided to do the EGR delete on my own would it void any exteneded warranty threw FORD since this is a known problem with the 6.0 ltr?

Clean your egr vlave and install a coolant filter. As long as your not losing coolant and you keep your egr valve clean you should be ok for the most part.

remove the bolts pull straight up, if you are unable to remove the EGR valve after removing the bolts there is a egr valve tool you can you which will assist you. After that some carb cleaner and a brush will look brand new, removes the soot. Make sure when installing it is clean and dry. Thats it. I usually take it out and clean it ever time I do the fuel filters. 15k

It is to the left of the oil filter in the black casing. The EGR is the silver/black value cover with an electrical imput near the truck cab. It is held down by I believe two bolts

Get a tune from Eric for your SCT and he can turn the EGR valve off. Did it on mine. Pretty easy fix with no wrench time.
