03 turbo instal questions

I dont have alot of experience working on the 6.0s I have done alot of work on the 7.3s motors but a friend of mine just got an 03 turbo and he wants help putting it on its 05. Anyone got any tips or suggestions on if there is anything else worth doing while we are at it?

anything would be appreciated.

Does he have an 03 pedistal to install it on?

If not, I would get one. I don't like the idea of only using 2 of the 3 bolts to mount the turbo.

Or you could remove the 05 pedistal, make an L bracket and use the 05 Pedistal.

Then just take the old one off and put the new one in it's place. Also, if he doesn't have an EGR delete, now would be the time to do it while you have access to it.

how hard is the egr delete to do? and than wouldnt he have to get a tuner to tell the computer it doesnt have an egr anymore?

Depending on the year and strategy he may or may not need a tuner to turn the EGR off and keep the CEL from coming on. Best idea is to get a programmer on it anyway to do away with it .
