Power vs. warranty

I have a new '06 F-550. We had to buy this truck for the load rating on it. I way in at near 18,000lbs. We came from a Dodge 1T truck, but that one weighted in much less. I am having power problems with this truck compared to the Dodge. I struggle with hills in Wis. constantly. With all the jibe about 6.0 problems and warranty, what is a person supposed to do? My power deficit is a major problem. Just for record, I have a 6 spd.

Welcome to Powerstroke.org Wisconsin!
I don't use my 6.0 for heavy towing so I'm not going to be much help furthermore mine isn't stock. I figured I'd give this a bump so some of the folks who do heavy haul can chime in.

warranty

wisconsin Pump...I have a F350 that is set up for hauling and i'm weighing in around 11000 and pulling trailers between 6000 and 12000 across the east coast. My buddys got a 03 Dodge set up the same and towing the same trailers and stock our trucks are pretty equall. If what your inquiring about are aftermarket power inhancers, than my advice to you is before you buy anything talk to the service tech or manager at your particular dealer about how they feel. My dealer sells edge products, I have talked to several others who sell Banks products. If looking the aftermarket route... do your research, there are a great many products out there and not all are motor/life friendly. Stay away from anything that lets turbo boost get out of control or you'll be eating the cost of new headgaskets.

Well it all depends on $$$$$$. If you got plenty of it then add more power. If $$$ is kinda scarce hold off on the power mods. It all comes down to the old cliche "You wanna play you gonna have to pay". I dont really have alot of money but I love playin', guess thats why I'm on the second tranny and the third set of ring and pinion in the rear end that I've had to pay for. Ford took one look at my truck and said you want US to warranty that. You might wanna ask your service manager at your local ford dealer how mod friendly they are. Some are more forgiving than others. Not sure if I've been any help but these are just some thoughts to ponder.

chip it?

maybe add a chip or tuner, and take it out before taking it to the dealer.
if dealer finds evidence of foul play, they have every right to void your warr. work.

i can see why they do that, some people blow up there ride by modding it and want dealer to pay for their botched efforts.

WI PUMP welcome i have a 06 f350 with trailer i weigh in at 17640 I haul for pay
and am taged for 33000 gcvw (so about 15000 on the trailer) no mods to the motor. It pulls great but heavy dose take its toll on the hills. Mine has 4.11 gears I thimk your has 5.88 a big differance as far as rpms and speed thats way I went w/ a f350 and not the F450/F550.

Sounds like you should have got the medium duty f650 with the C7.
Inline motors are hill climbers as you allready know with your previous CTD.
