Recently bought a 06 6.0 that has had the EGR delete done as wall as a hollowed out cat. He has the truck tuned with a SCT tuner with the higher mileage setting installed, if I reinstall the factory tune will i get a CEL ? New to the diesel game.
Don't be sorry man, we all start somewhere, and most of us are still learning. Yes, you will get a CEL if you set it back to stock. The SF3 allows you to tun the EGR on/off only when you're running the canned tunes.
With the sf3 tuner you can run stock with egr off or even a transmission tune (firmer shifts) with egr off. I only used tow tune for trailers and higher hp tune for empty road trips. But again just run the stock or transmission tune with egr
Off and your ok.
no problem. Be warned though, I heard through the grapevine the sf3 tuner will not be supported much longer if they haven't already dropped it. plus a lot of these programmer, chips, and tuner companies are starting to not ship to strict emissions states like CA unless its a C.A.R.B. approved unit.
there are still some that will but its getting to be fewer.
if memory serves when you select the tune on a sf3 flash programmer you select stock or transmission only (which ever you want( and when you select the tune it gives you options and one of them if EGR OFF. I swear its not hard and I did it for years. I had a 2004 f350 in California and when I wasn't looking for power it worked great. I know the sf3 can do it but im not sure with the x4 models ya know.
Rarely, but it does happen will 05/07 trucks not throw the light for the delete if the valve is still there. Truck is probably throwing a p0401 code, just not setting the light for it.
Should have said I am not running a tuner, just using Torque Pro to monitor. I don't recall seeing the p0401 code but will double check. When I try to check for fault codes, Torque Pro keeps giving a message saying it is unable to check due to the dealer not enabling an OBD to check for faults. I still get some codes but because of the message, I may not be getting all.
