Okay just picked up used SCT, now what?

Found this tuner for a steal, the deal I had been looking for for my good buddy, (dont have a powerstroke yet, will have one in May)

But my friend, who is computer illiterate, well lets just put it this way im setting everything up for him.

Now it is used, and i know i need to download some files onto the computer before i get any custom tunes.

It is the Xcal2

So do i need to plug it into the computer and erase everything the previous owner had?

What files do I need to download/what site do i download it to get myself started on the way for some custom tunes for my buddy, from IDP of course

Thanks guys.

You'll have to unlock the sct since it's already locked to the other trucks vin. Go to SCT's website and download the liveload program. Plug your SCT into your computer then open up the program. It will then show what tunes are on the tuner. There you will also be able to unlock it. You only get 5 unlocks, afterwards you have to send it back to SCT to have it reset. Hope that helps...

the box says xcalibrator two, and the tuner itself says at the bottom "SF Strategy Flash Device"

Is this able to hold custom tunes? i hope i did not purchase the wrong one.

My options to download for the SF Strategy Flash P/N 9415 are the following:

Device Firmware
Device Update Software
Device Tune Revision
Windows Device Drivers

Those are my four options on their site...and im using a MAC i hope thats okay as well.

The 9415 uses canned tunes, meaning it is preloaded with files for a certain vehicle. you can however convert it to a p/n 9400 which wil accept custom files.

EDIT: this was taken from SCT's website.

Live Load is used by a customer to upload custom tune files sent from a SCT Dealer into a XCalibrator 2. This program can also be used to update your 9400 Xcalibrator Custom Tuned device with end user option adjustability or to convert a 9415 SF Strategy Flash device to an 9400 XCalibrator 2. You must receive the *.LL3 file from your custom tuning dealer to program the User Adjustability to your XCalibrator 2.

you will have to load "liveload" onto your computer, then use it to convert the 9415 to a 9400 tuner. Remember, once it has been converted, it can not be converted back to a 9415... it is a one way operation.

Probably going to have to send it to SCT and I doubt it will work with the mac. (Thats why I always keep a POS PC around to use it when things arent mac compatible)
