Finally egr deleted!

I finally deleted my EGR. This by far was the biggest project I ever did on a truck and it probably isn't even that big of a project compared to others. Thanks to all of ya'll that helped me out and answered all of my questions. I just have one more.. My cel is still on, and the code is 0403 Egr circut or something... Is that normal? I tried erasing it, but every time i shut the truck off, and restart it, it comes back on.. How do I get that off? It's a 2003 f250. Thanks guys

After my EGR delete I was getting same code. SCTcleared it but it came back on at next start. I plugged the EGR Valve back into the harness, cleared it again, this time stayed off. I will get ID to re-tune my SCT but this worked for now. I don't know if yours will clear when plugged back in without SCT. Good Luck.

Yeah, I ended up putting the valve back in and plugging it in. That shouldn't be a problem should it? Is it a big deal to have the valve in the intake manifold even though the rest of the egr system isn't there?

Sorry to hi-jack your thread, but is there anyway to delete the EGR valve and still pass emissions testing? We have to have the trucks checked here and I was just wondering.

If you're getting checked, then there's 2 ways.

1. Buy the "new and improved" aftermarket EGR tanks. This will keep it working reliably.

2. Block both exhaust ends of the tank and leave it in. This will block the exhaust gas from flowing through the tank.

Bulletproof EGR cooler upgrade?
There is quite a bit of reading, but worth it. This will give you the option of maintaining your EGR cooler for emission purposes for folks like me who live in Ca.

Thanks for that info. On our emissions testing here in Tennessee we just have to have the truck hooked up to the OBD II scanner and then a gas cap leak. So if I did the delete and then ran a tune would it delete the code that came up and allow me to pass? I guess it isn't as strict as CA testing but it is still a pain.
