03 turbo
Does anyone know if it is possible to just get an exhaust side wheel from an 03 and swap that into an 04 turbo? Rather then buy a whole other turbo why not just buy the wheel? I was just brainstorming let me know what you think!

I heard the loud whistle of an 03 turbo and it's benefits in general is the air capacity not just the vanes. It boosts higher than the newer models because of its size I believe. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but a wheel wouldn't give you the sound you heard from a complete 03 turbo nor the boost. If so, I would think someone would engineer a wheel to give someone the sound they swappers desire.

HOLY CRAP I WAS JUST ABOUT TO POST THE EXACT SAME QUESTION!!!
One would think you could just swap the wheels? I will have to have the 10 blade one I am getting taken appart and compared. You really would think it would be popular if possible but hey some people still don't know that you can just swap the early 99 and down stock turbo wheel in a later 7.3, a.k.a wicked wheel mod. They think it is a "special" wheel. So who knows? Could be possible it is just being kept quiet.

Yes I cant believe no one else has tried it yet! I am trying to find a 10 vane wheel just to see if it will work. Im not really looking for any more performance I just wanted some more whistle.

it will work you kinda gotta take the whole turbo apart to do it but it will work all it is is a 10 vane turbine wheel with the shaft on it that runs threw the whole turbo to where the intake wheel bolts up to...i took apart my 05 turbo and i was gonna swap it out cuz i gotta buddy at ford who has some parts and told me he can just get that part but he couldnt get it so i just brought the 03 turbo gotta go deal on it...but you can swap out turbine wheels its the same set up on the turbos
