Ok guys, just got the II 62/70 non vgt turbo installed (thanks Diesel Nut). I will break it down in every way possibe comparing to the stage II vgt I was running. I will also mention the non vgt tunes I got from Eric. One thing I can say is the sound is very different. Awsome idle sound and quiet. Quiet in the cab too....specially on the road
Under throttle, my 5" exhaust freaking comes alive. So let me to a comparison.
Idle: Vgt idled at 400 degrees and had slight haze..... 62/70 Idles at 375 degrees and no haze.
Drivability: Motor drove well with the vgt, pretty smooth under throttle and some vibration..... 62/70 drives really well, very very smooth under throttle and no engine vibration.
Freeway at 68mph: vgt ran at 800 degrees and 6psi.... 62/70 runs at 700 degrees and 0-2psi. Under slight throttle vgt accelerated a tad faster but rolling into the 62/70 was not bad at all. As far as pull goes, the 62/70 pulls 3 times as hard as the vgt did.
Sound: vgt had loud whistle and in cab noise....62/70 no whistle and quiet in cab..... which I like better...vgt under throttle from a stop...good spool and good sound.....62/70 decent spool (not much less) and awsome sound...hungrt deep sound. I like it.
I will get more drive time tomorrow, but so far I am very happy with it. Turbo definatley pulls harder than the vgt and makes the motor run alot smoother. I will post pictures and videos soon.
Now for the tune from eric...running the mild street...very nice... I have the extreme street and extreme race. Will try a tune with a tad more fuel, which will help with spool.
