How much of a difference can I expect from a custom tuner over my canned SCT tunes? Thinking of getting White Noise and maybe something from PHP as I'm not sure what they suggest on a non-studded truck. Seems the canned performance SCT tune is good at WOT but the street tune seems more crisp at lower rpm. Won't be towing much, just the occasional short haul.
But seriously, that is the truth. The other nice part to custom tunes is that they can be modified to your liking. If you are not happy with the custom tune right out of the box, get a hold of the tuner and work with them.
I tried the canned street tune while i waited for my custom tunes to come in, didn't like them. I uploaded the tunes i got in from QuickTricks and I love it. Feels overall smooth.
I have an SCT tuner that came with my friend and so far Im only running the "canned' tunes from SCT. I do have a tune from Texas Diesel Power, but I am not impressed by it at all. Im considering getting some tunes from PHP, but what are the other good options for SCT tunes for a 6.0L?
We have our standard tunes, which are custom tunes built during live tuning for a pretty much stock truck (light mods such as intake and exhaust).
Then we have our truly custom tunes, built for your exact mods (turbo, injectors, trans, etc). These tunes do cost more, as a lot more time goes into building them.
However, even if you have a bone stock truck and buy one of our standard tunes, we still work with you if the tune isn't quite right to your liking. So in a sense, it is still custom.
Got my Gearhead SRL tune in and it totally changed the truck, really happy with it. Of course I'm the type that likes to try a little of everything so I'm sure I'll be talking with some other tuners to find out what they have for my non-studded truck. But for now it is a blast to drive!
If you like SRL, you'll like MPD by Truck Source Diesel. Not sure if they are still doing email tunes or if they only do live tuning now. I heard they stopped doing email tunes. I think @peixinho is a dealer for them though. He might be able to help.
There's a lot of other good tuners but those are the two I started with and jeep going back to. I've tried PHP's 100hp Performance tune and it's ok, but it doesn't have the bottom end "umph" that MPD or SRL has. I probably should have went with the 140x for a fair comparison.
I believe so. I emailed them a little over a week ago and it took a while to get a reply. Reply said that Chris is on his honeymoon and will not be doing any tunes until after the 4th of July.
Yes, TSD is back in business doing email tunes. Chris and Charlie are working together I believe, at least Charlie is who I paid .....
