wow....make sure not to lie to the dealer......

well....i had a 6.0 in today for the EBP sensor and PCM reprogram recall.......i could tell pulling it in it was chipped (4" exhaust, aftermarket turbo, and cold air intake also gave me a hint)......had the service writer call the customer to ask him....and he got "no.....its not chipped....why are you asking"....lol.....when i went to reprogram the pcm.....it had codes that told me there was a chip...went to the writer again and asked.....customer still said no chip to worry about.......i reflashed it and now hes pissed cause his program was erased and his programmer will not work now cause the factory info is in the programmer and the program was lost when i reflashed it........or something like that......oh well....guess he should have told us the truth..........Marc

When the EGR was replaced the Service Writer asked me if the truck was chipped. I said no, which it wasn't. I asked him why did you ask. he said because of the dual 6" exhaust tips. I told him I just wanted to keep the EGTs lower, and get some better performance. Keith

I would have too lied too - that way when this crappy head gasket design they so brilliantly have on these things decides to blow a gasket they can't come back to me and say - you told us last time you were in you had a chip, it did it, warranty void.....maybe lie is a bad term - how about plausible deniability.

How about the excuses I use once in a while. I had a senior moment. Or, I'm suffering from over 40's Ahlmeimers. Keith

I hear ya Keith.
I know what you're trying to say Marc and from your position you're right but from mine as a consumer having to deal with an admittedly flawed design, I can't give Ford and the dealer any reason to try and save a buck at my expense. I KNOW that if I end up having a problem and I take my rig in they are immediately going to start questioning me about a chip/tune because of my exhaust and gauges. That's about the ONLY reason I haven't bought the AFE is I don't want to call even MORE attention to myself than I already have.

Oh now THAT would be stupid. I thought you meant he had installed it before he brought it in.
