Head Studs

I have a 2004 Superduty and I bought it used. I was wondering if there was a way to tell if it has had head studs put in?

Look at the bolts (or studs) holding the head on the outside of the valve cover. You should be able to see if its a bolt or a stud with a flash light, maybe pull the intake to get a good view.

i cant find a picture of mine installed, but like mike said look down around the valve cover area for the head stud coming through held on with a nut, around the bolt it should say ARP right on it.

Heres a pic of a truck with studs look right below the valve cover and you'll see a stud with a nut not a bolt.
