bully dog power pup need advice

i just bought and installed the bully dog powerpup i've been trying between 40% and 70%, the advice i need is when i punched it from a rolling start when i hit 45 mph it didnt shift into 5th gear, that was using both firm aggressive shift and smooth aggressive shift. i let off the pedal in both situations and it shifted right away. i guess what my question is has this happened to anyone before using this tuner or should i look towards getting my transmission checked. also those who have used this tuner before what setting worked for you the best. i don't have guages and don't really need them my wife is the daily driver for this truck so my heavy foot is only casual use.

This tuner is hard on the tranny, not as hard as edge products, but it is hard on them. I wouldn't run it without gauges. I actually don't recommend driving without gauges if you tow quite a bit, daily driving use is a different story, but it it's used as a truck was intended I would put a set of gauges to it.

I didn't use the plain power pup, but I did use the triple dog power pup, only difference was that I could use mine on any of the big three diesel rigs at the time.

While the power of it was good, it didn't quite do right with the tranny and I'm more then convinced it caused the ruining of my intermediate clutch(which does affect the shift into 5th gear, it is also the weakest link in the torqshift setup in stock form) as well as my headgasket issues.

EGTs did get excessive even with the tow tune at times. I really wouldn't run a tuner without gauges. You can exceed recommend EGT levels just easily merging into traffic on the interstate with an "off-the-shelf" tuner especially, but even with one that offers custom tunes.

In all honesty, speaking as someone that owned a bullydog product in the past, I would either get rid of it as it will more then likely cost you more in the long run or I would put a set of gauges on it irrelevant of who is the daily driver.

thanks for the advice. i think i will get the guages i was looking at. i don't tow that much , but i have a 6k travel trailer i take about 6 times a year, the truck did fine with out the tuner and it went from 1100 elevation(AZ) to 13000 elevation(CO). I'm just looking for a good setting for towing using this programmer it hasn't missed 5th gear driving normally just when i was trying to beat it up.

Bully Dog Triple Dog

Hello everyone. I was thinking about getting this as well. What should I be worried about? Or what would be the best programmer?
