How much to unlock a locked SCT?

I have a guy wanting to sell me a SCT X3 that is still locked to his vehicle. The was totaled in a flood so it was never returned to stock. I know it can be unlocked. Is sending it back to SCT the only way or can someone else do it? Any idea what they charge?

I think you can unlock it yourself 4 or 5 times in total before it has to be sent to SCT. After that, they are the only ones to my knowledge that can unlock it to be able to be used for the next vehicle. As to price, I can't remember exactly but I'm wanting to say round 100, but don't quote me on that.

Dude, just buy something new already!!!! It's easier and you can get the SCT plus some custom tunes for about the same price you are going to put in this one. Support some vendors on the sites you are on. i'm sure they would appreciate it.

If you just happen to have so much money why don't you go ahead and buy one for him?

If it has only been used on that one truck you can unlock it yourself but once it has been used on 5 vehicles you have to send it back to SCT

Nope, i've already bought enough stuff from Bill, he should have enough money from me already. The reason behind my comment was that I've seen him buy and sell enough stuff to build two or three trucks..

not completely true. The tuner has to be in "stock" mode, meaning that the previous vehicle was returned to stock. Only then can you unlock it yourself. Otherwise it has to be sent in to SCT.
