Hot tune in the summer isnt gonna hurt a thing normally. As to your trans temps what gearing are you running? I tow all the time never get above 190 trans temp and 220 coolant.

Empty trans temp stays between 150-165 Coolant temp 199-204. In extreme st.

Towed a 30 foot bumper pull camper for a buddy the other day up a 4% grade for 3 miles trans temp 190 ECT 220 And that was in extreme st

I run X-Race everyday in South Central Texas. It has been 105 in the shade for about a week straight now. Hell I even towed with it the other day. It wasnt a heavy load, but by God it was HOT!

I dunno in my OBS 7.3 which I know is completely different than what you are talking about, If I crank up my knob and run a race tune it is a little hotter even on flat ground. and not to mention going up hill it does run it hotter. Most tunes no matte what put more fuel in at all times.

Keep in mind with that fivehead you have less air resistance so the truck isnt working as hard so your temps will stay cooler... where as us full head of hair guys dont have that advantage

well, i tow a 30' 5th wheel, 26' gooseneck with 68 hp kubota 4x4 tractor, trucks, cars, boat and whatever else is needed. Everyone says not to do it, but i've got over 110,000 miles and hardly and issue. as long as you don't get stupid with it, everything is fine. I get better mileage and my EGT's are actually the same as my tow tune is. Except my tow tune gets worse mileage.

You don't have to get stupid with it. I saw my highest tranny temps when towing when I was towing about 3k in tow/haul mode, now granted that's going up some steep hills and the tow/haul mode does make it get hotter then normal, but she got hot that day. Now with the tow tune, she actually stays about 180 doing 10.5 hr drive hauling ~16k worth of horse flesh.

Unless the tune had some parameters tweaked for towing with it, I wouldn't do it. However, this is just me.

I will say this as to your not having any problems so far. I didn't have any issues when I had the Bullydog on my truck for the entire year it was on there. Year and a half later of having the SCT, headgasket issues, eight months after that tranny goes out. Could the bullydog have had any hand in that? Sure could have especially considering what I have learned since I first starting modding my truck. Could the SCT? Possible, I tend to doubt it, but it's still possible. I have over 125k on my truck now and I put on miles fairly quickly. Sometimes it takes longer for "issues" to reveal themselves and sometimes they take so long that people tend not to make the connection of what truly caused and/or contributed to the problem itself.
