reflash question

new to the boards and my first post so dont mind if this is in the wrong section.

i have a 03 with the banks six gun and wanted to get the PCM re flashed with the update. i was wondering if i had to disconnect the banks or if it is alright to leave there. i ask this because it is plugged into the obdII connector as well as the PCM.

thanks

I think you can just turn it to the stock power level and unplug the OBDII port and you should be good to go. If you want safe power though, ditch the Banks and get an SCT with custom tunes.

Banks puts a lot of stress on the head gaskets and doesn't actually tune the transmission. After I blew my head gaskets, I got head studs and switched to a custom tuned SCT.

Banks runs ok at the lower settings but the SCT is safer for your truck.

To answer your original question, put the Six Gun setting to "1", disable Speed Loader and you will be fine to take it to the dealer like that. They will unplug the OBDII, which is fine. Usually they plug the Banks back in, but if not, just plug it in when you get it back.

SCT reprograms the PCM instead of just modifying the signals it sends out. You get more control over everything and you also get the trans tuning.

Go to the search bar and search SCT you'll find more than you need to know! Also checkout YouTube and search SCT! IMHO SCT with it's custom tuning of the engine and transmission tuning to match each tune you run you'll enjoy driving your truck more on a daily setting and while towing.
