Thumbs up Predator

I’ve got the Predator for mine. I put the 65hp tune on my rig when she hit about 800 miles or so, as I recall. I don’t have a whole lot of STOCK seat time with her that’s for sure. Got to say I absolutely love it! I’m sure there are better tuners out there (that Banks 6-Gun sounds pretty sweet) but for the price it worked for me. I’ve got about 9K on my rig now and have had no problems at all to speak of. I bump her up to the 100hp tune every now and then for about a week to play – plus I think I’ve convinced myself that it might be actually good for it, to change things up every now and then. 90% of the time though I leave her in 65hp tune. EGT’s are fine, never over the top by any means and I tend to drive her hard – not towing hard but I love the sight of a Chevy or Dodge through a cloud of black smoke in my rear view mirror.

a buddy of mine from work just picked one of these up and he loves it! hes got it at the 65hp tune right now. but he wonders wether or not it would be safe to run the 100hp setting without any other mods.

I've run it in 100hp mode a few times for a week or so, completely stock and no problems. My EGT's were well within an alright range. I haven't run it in 100 since I put my MBRP on. Let me tell you that thing in 100 mode is AWESOME. It's nice to cruise along like it's totally stock and then romp on it and break the tires loose.
My problem with it in 100hp is I race EVERYTHING. That being said the 65hp works perfect for me with the perfect combo of speed/mileage.

You should have him get on here and post his time in the "Timeslips" feature up above. Make sure that if he joins, you have him put "Harley Truck" as the refferer in the registration.

Thumbs up

14.5 - NICE!!! The fastest I've seen anyone report on the Predator was a 13.9. Someday I may take mine out and see what it'll do.

i hate the predator

I have a diablo predator and i hate it! i jus pulled it and now am getting a superchip tuner. the predator is bad, it has jus started dryin out my coolant, im really glad i cought it. also i have been told by many people it injects 2 much fuel and will blow ur engine up over time. i also have a cousin who works for ford and he says that the 100 horse will mess you up but i havent dared to find out. also, i dont know about the superchip book and what it says, but the predator says there are 2 reasons 2 remove it, those are- if the engine starts messing up and/or if u take it 2 the dealership to have it serviced. by the way i have an 03' 6.0.

I've read where some people have had problems myself but I've seem similar complaints from just about every tuner on the market. I don't care if you buy a tuner, a video camera or a coffee pot, there are always a percentage of people not satisfied or who have problems. I'd be the FIRST person to say if the product was causing problems with my rig and if it grenades tomorrow, you all will know right away. That being said, I've had the predator on mine since about 800 miles - It's all my truck has ever known. I'm over 10,000 now and checked my fluids the other day and my coolant is BARELY under where it was when I drove it off the lot. I have a field day running the 100hp tune and again, no problems. I've read where people ONLY run in the 100 and again - no problems. Could something happen over time? Heck I guess only time will tell. We buy tuners, we take a chance - that's just the way it is.
Sorry it didn't work for ya but definitely let us know how the Superchip works out. I've thought about getting rid of the Predator for the 6-Gun but figure there would be some warranty ISSUES.
