6.0 wont start after oil cooler and egr replacement
hi guys i am new here and thought i would tell you my problem and see if anybody cam help me.
will it ran good with o issues just got oil in the rad so i changed the oil cooler. and while i was there changed the egr cooler and valve. so it started up and ran good in the driveway for like 1 hour. so i went to drive it and about 2 miles down the road it lost power and died. started up and wont idle so i limped it home. died like 5 times and finnally wont start now just cranks. i cheked all my plugs fluid levels(no more oil in the rad lol) i didnt see the engine light come on but will check for codes in the morning. do you think there is something i could have missed? |

dude that stinks. was it smoking just before it died? sounds like HPOP(high pressure oil pump) issue.

Oh that sucks. The same thing happened to me. It first tried to stall on me and limped to the side of the road. Tried to start it and it would just start for a bit and stall. Finally it would just crank and sounded like it was trying to start but would not start.
First it was the alternator as it was not charging the system. What I have been told if the system doesnt have the appropriate voltage it will not start but will crank. I had the batteries charged and put a new alternator .... everything worked fine for a while ... then it started doing a similar thing but it turned out to be a part called ICP, I believe. Good luck, |

no codes
i thought i would change the fuel filter for heak of it. only got 5000 miles on this one it hasent done it again. so far i have put 200 miles and no problems. i cant belive the fuel filters are that picky but thanks for your help anyways. i wish there was a easy way to get all of the oil out of the cooling system in one shot tho. |

I agree with scuffy. There are too many things that these symptoms could link too. I had the same problem twice and it was injectors. HPOP is similar to this as well as ICP. crank no start condition.
good luck |

Yea I agree with these guys. You are basically shooting in the dark. A scanner is the way to go. |

i will have to strongly agree that the fuel filters did not fix this issue , glad you arent having any more problems , but dont think filters caused it

i was told that because i didnt use motorcraft filter(by a ford tech) that-that was my poor starting and running condition. i fixed the real problem which was not the carquest fuel filter...
