Iv got a 2002 with the V-10 and its sitting on 227k never been in the shop. KNOCK ON WOOD. been a very good engine. as soon as this one kicks the curb ill be doing the Destroked swap with a 2005 Common Rail and getting the Newer 05-07 5R110 Toruq Shift Trans.

I dont neccessarily think you would have to have a transmission just right away in the 7.3. I pulled many 12-15k and occasionally 20k pound loads on my 3/4 ton and it has 230,000 miles and never had a problem with the trans. Don't get me wrong, i know the trans is the weak spot, but i think if you found a low mileage 7.3 you would get some use out of it before you had to do anything to it.
