Excursions
Does anyone know the published reason they stopped producing the excursions, and the thier own reason as to why they do not make them anymore?

Ford did not sell enough excursions to to justify the excursions capacity on the production line. They sold alot more supeduty's (10-1) than they did exursions. The excursion did not have to meet CAFE as it was classified as a truck.

I see alot of Excursions on the roads where I live (horse country out here), but most are gassers. The Excursion with a gas plant...no wonder the CAFE was not met. I have a diesel and the MPG is great.

From what i have gathered, the govt. required each auto manufacturer to have an average MPG of their entire fleet meet XX MPG. So the Ex was dropped as it was the least selling low MPG vehicle.

I work at Ford, I lot of "people" complainted the X was to much the handle in the city. Didn't fit in garages, just too big! So they made the Expedition L. Just a little shorter don't really know how much...but smaller wheel base too.
A good friend is a manager at Ford and he just got a 2009 Navigator L (or whatever they call it) it has a ton of room in it with power fold seats loaded! About $65,000 :O Good thing he doesn't pay for his!!! |

I bought my ex on the 10 year plan. 2 years down, 8 to go. I hope at the end of the 10 years I can find another one thats still in decent condition. I'll stop holding my breath now.
