Considering an excursion
Well I'm looking at buying a diesel 2003-2005 Excursion. I'm looking at a 4x4 XLT at a dealer with 77k, leather, 4x4, and an in-dash dvd player with 2 headrest monitors. The dealer is asking 22,000 for it which seems high to me just do to the fact that they most likely bought for like 10-13,000. My wife does not want to spend a whole lot of money on a suv with a lot of mileage. Does the dealers price seem fair? I know that diesels are just considered broken in at 100k but we are looking for one with under 80k miles. Is there anything that I should look at visually besides an Oasis report?

i was looking at X's before i bought my 350, thats a little high. you can get lower mileage and maybe even nicer rigs from a private owner rather than a dealer (and less bs). i looked for about 6 mos. before i found the "right" deal. its out there, good luck with it.

I bought mine for 14k almost 2 years ago and it had 82k on it. It was an ebay thing and close enough for a road trip. You can do better.

I got mine for 22K with 44,000 miles on it back in February. It is a Limited and loaded with brand new tires, etc.
I found it in the southwest. Bill |

i got mine for 10k about two years ago. its an xlt all power with leather. it has about 170k on it when i got it. now its at 206k and besides the cps and a water pump, no problems at all. you will love it.
i also had an expedition like gnfnrs and he is right, there is no comparison. good luck! |

I’m looking for the same exact thing and in the SE region there are a number of 70-80K mileage Xs around with prices ranging from $22,000-26,000 (diesels). I’m focusing on diesels only but the V10 and 5.4 liter gasoline X’s are way cheaper. I assume your pricing a diesel that you’re referring to?
I’m hoping for a private sale but even some of the private individuals have some pretty optimistic prices in my opinion. Good luck. Brian |
