Looking at an '03 Excursion...

Hey everyone, I'm looking at possibly buying an '03 Excursion 6.0L with 200K miles on it. I've read everything from glowing reports to horror stories about the 6.0L, and I am still open minded about it. I called and spoke with the dealer to get some preliminary info. It's a one owner truck that was purchased from them new. He says they did most of the service on it, save for oil changes. He also said it had zero recalls on it, when they ran the carfax report. Now given the age, mileage, the fact that it is a one owner truck, and that a dealer is selling it, instead of sending it to an auction, would a look in person be warranted, or should I just forget I saw it and keep looking. The asking price is on the high side of fair, but he said it is just a "starting point." Comments? Suggestions?

Ask the dealer to print you off the "oasis" report and you will get the real truth about the truck...let us know what you come up with

Well, poo!! I called to ask for the Oasis Report, and someone was in the process of buying it already. Back to the drawing board I guess.

buy a crew cab... u'll love it, plus you can throw whatever you want in the bed. as for 7.3, 6.0, 6.4... well that is your choice depending on what you want to do with the truck and money situation

Well, I thought about that, but I already have a Dodge Ram QC, that is getting a little tight for space, with 2 kids in car seats. Add in my wife's family when we go anywhere, and it's guaranteed that someone is riding in the bed.

BTW-The dealer called me back, apparently the buyer couldn't get financed, so I'm going to look at it tomorrow.
