Gauge Suggestions?

Hello diesel dudes!

So I've been trying a variety of OBDii apps on my iPhone, and I'm finding that none of them work properly.

So I'm thinking of changing to a traditional gauge. Something like the ScanGuage or UltraGuage.

Does anyone have any suggestions on devices they've used in the past or are currently using?

I used a SCT livewire 9600. I didn't like the digital gauges on my Excursion. I went to a 4 gauge pillar set up and love it. I hear a lot of people like the Scan gauge and its pretty cheap too. I also have a iPhone app and don't care for it.

I have both a 4 pillar pod and scangauge.

The scangauge is great and costs about $150 at Autozone. That is where I bought mine two years ago. Lately, I have seen ads in diesel magazines for some that are already pre-programmed for 6.0l which is nice because it will save you the time of programming in the "x-gauge" codes for the parameters you want. It depends how much they cost pre-programmed (the ads don't include the price).

It all comes down to what your time is worth and what you can afford. Programming is the codes is not hard, it is just time consuming. I found all of mine on this forum.

I hope this helps!

I forgot to mention another good feature of the Scangauge:

You can unplug it and plug it into another vehical if you want. I have used it in my other vehicles to read and clear check engine lights, monitor parameters when troubleshooting, etc...

So far, mine has been used to monitor a VW Beetle, Nissan Murano, Honda Accord, Honda Civic, and GMC truck. I don't think you can do that with some of the other products out there.

One of the issues I seem to run into, especially with the apps, is that they don't properly read diesels. I assume scan gushes is ok for that?

I've got both, normal gauges, and an edge insight...they both are great, love the looks of gauges on the pillar, but the edge seems like the best bang for buck

Too bad you are on iPhone, Torque is awesome. It may be worth it to get an old Android phone for cheap just to use Torque on it as a constant gauge source -
