Major issues since ford touched it

My sister drives a 2000 6.0 gas ford excursion. She has driven it for about 10 years now and it has never given any problem. It has about 235k miles and is one of the strongest trucks we've had (ford family).

Recently, she moved to Texas, so my dad and I are no longer her source for car trouble.

The other day she was misfiring and I believed it to be a coil so I agree when she suggested taking it to Ford which is next door to her. They agreed it was a coil and replaced it. After that, it has been nothing but downhill. The truck has not run well for more then 10 miles since ford touched it.

It was riding awfully so she took it back and they told her her heater control valve blew up and leaked all over her injectors and they got more money from her.

That was a few days ago and they charged $500 bucks to fix everything.

The first time using it since then she calls me and says it's misfiring bad and there is a burnt smell coming from the back of the car, not burnt rubber but burnt.

Does anyone know what could be going on?

You sister has had great success with the excursion, and no one likes repairs. That's like me, my F-250 7.3L has almost 260K and last week it needed a new water pump, idler pulley's, hose's,etc.. and I just hated shelling out $600 for the repair, but my wife then say's how much money have we actually spent repairing my truck. Other than brakes and ball joint's, and one costly transmission, not a hole lot. I think my truck is invincible and will never break down but unfortunately it will (just ounce the tranny)

So the smell of it being burnt, smell like coolant, electrical, or maybe they got something on the exhaust

It might be tough to get a good response here. You also might want to find a different forum to get better answers. This excursion section doesn't get a lot of traffic, and it's all about diesel excursions from 03 on.

You're sisters truck is a 2000 and a gasser. This entire forum seems to only focus on diesels. If she has a v10 it's a 6.8L, if a v8 it's a 5.4L.

Goodluck helping her out.
