05 Excursion

Greetings:

I've found an 05 Excursion with an 09/05 build date. Would this be one of the last Excursions built? Does anyone know when the last build date would have been?

Also, since it has a September build date, would this Excursion have the best bullit proofing from Ford?

Thanks.........

I haven't purchased it yet.........but the white sticker that shows the vin and build date shows a date of 09/05.....is there a way to determine the actual day it was built on??

I was under the impression that the latest 05's had the most up to date changes to remedy the problems of the 6.0....am I wrong? I'm not going to tune the truck if/when I purchase one, I will tow a 4000lb camper and haul the family on vacations......Probably less than 5000 miles per year will be put on it. Should I steer clear of the 6.0 and look for a 7.3?

Sorry, I miss read that, I thought you had the date.

Not trying to derail your thread but the argument could be made that the late 06-07 engines were the best as they were being prepped fro the changes in 08.
But like I said the Ex only went to 05 so that would be the best.

I've also got a Sept 05 build date. You'll need to deal with the STC fitting, and it would be a good idea to replace the plastic CAC tube with the earlier metal style.

2005 Excursion Limited 6.0L 2wd
Atlas 40, Bulletproof EGR cooler, coolant filter, 6.4L banjos, Cat coolant, Gogo direct solenoid, 7.3 fan clutch. Otherwise, all stock.

Well.....the 05 got away from me. Someone has beaten me to the purchase twice now on 2 really nice 05's. At this point.....I'm torn between a low mileage 05 6 liter or hold out for a low mileage 7.3.

I gave up trying to find a 7.3. They either had 300k on them already, or they thought they were made of gold.
