MPG

I recently bought a 2005 4x4 Excursion. I am a first time owner of a diesel. I noticed that I am getting approx. 13 mpg. I have a 4" Banks exhaust and a ram air intake. Should I be getting better gas mileage? My trip meter gives me a reading of 370 miles to empty when the tank is full. That doesn't sound right.

Thanks,
Rich

Seems like it should be a little better but im not sure with a 6.0 excursion. Are you running stock tire size?

the onboard computers arent always correct. do the math yourself and see what you get. too many variables to be determine what solution might fix it. start with that though. good luck.

If you reset the computer when you fill up it is closer. I always hand calulate too. If drive in town a lot the computer will read low because the more you idle the more it goes down.

How close do you guys get to empty on the meter? Ive gone down to 13 miles to empty before, but dont know just how accurate that is. And to hand calculate I need to use everything I put in it right? 35 on a supposed 38 gallon tank. gallons is the most could get in there

I am really close to stock. The rims are stock and the tires a an inch or two bigger. Thanks a bunch for the feedback. I will calculate on my own.

I just picked up a 03 Excursion with 6.0L I have not run a full tank through it yet but mine is a 44 gal tank and full it says something around 560 mi. I have an AFE stage 2 intake and a edge juice with attitude. My little meter says i get 22 mpg down the freeway. when i fill back up i will calculate it and let you know.

mbrp exhaust just showed up i will let you know if that help any more also. (have not installed it yet)

Was pulling a trailer in West Texas where there were no places to stop for fuel. I went 17 miles on 0 miles until empty. I though I was for sure stuck, but was surprised when I made it. Finally found the gas station, I had never been so happy.

I get 13-15 in town with my 05 pickup.
