My new 04 Ex

Hello,
I just bought this in Miami, drove it home averaging 14.2 mpg. It has a 4in SuperLift, but the rear is junk (2in & 4in blocks under sagging Ex springs). 20in by 10 Dimano wheels with 36x15.50R20 Dick Cepek's Mud Country's (thay're all over the road at 65mph).

The only mods that I can see are: Bully Dog air intake, looks like a round EGR delete tube with the other small tube with the rubber fitting, Blue Spring upgrade (I can see 2 zip ties on 2 of the fuel lines by the engine fuel filter, IDK what the 2nd zip tie was for), and reprogrammed PCM TCM & FICM by Ford on 4/21/06. I'm sure it has some kind of economy tune, based on the mileage I am getting with the 36 inch Cepek's.

Future plans: change oil & coolant, some type of monitor/programmer, F 350 springs front and rear (I'm getting rid of the lift due to towing a travel trailer in the future), 33in tires, new oil cooler (don't know which brand), FCIM upgrade, and whatever else you clowns recommend.

It had 88,526 miles and I picked it up out the door for $18,000. I bought it to hall the wife, 5 kids, 2 dogs, and my guns.

This is my first diesel, I love Fords, and I always wanted to drop a PSD into one of my Bronco's, but never had the money or time.

I look foreword to getting to know you guys and learning about my new toy.

Thanks,
Mark

I also have an 04 Ex. I did the V/B spring swap about a year ago and love it. My springs were so shot that every bump it bottomed out. Cary T on this forum sounds like he knows a lot about the Excursions.

Welcome welcome. Love when an Excursion finds a god home. I love mine. A 6.0 in a FSB would be an animal, I think somebody around here shoved a 7.3 into one.

You're mpg seems real low imo. I know a lift and tires will hurt it a bit, but I hope not that much. 14 is around what I get in miami's stop and go city traffic if I drive it right. On a trip up to GA I'd expect an average mpg of around 20 for the whole trip with speeds from 70-75. My truck is completely stock though, which might make all the difference

Same here.. didn't like the ones I looked at locally. To many owners, to many stories, beat to ****, or they just didn't drive right. Luckily I found a great one owner X at Sawgrass Ford.
