I'm in the Excursion club!

Picked up my new to me 05 Excursion yesterday. What an impressive vehicle! I wish I would've picked one up 2 years ago when I got my wife's 08 Edge. We had one as a crew taxi (I work on the railroad) and I always liked it. I was impressed with the mileage it got with as many miles it had on it (425,000). I had a 7.3L, but I still wanted one even with the 6.0L (which I'm quite familiar with). Thought I'd share the news. It has 120,000 miles on it and it has worn well. The interior is spotless except for a small hole in the drivers seat. I'm going to spend some quality time with it to see what it needs and what has been done. I already know it has new ball joints and an alternator. I imagine it'll need a idler pulley and an egr delete soon.

Congrats!, regarding the idler pulleys, FYI you can swap the bearings out separately from the pulley and save a lot of $. There are two part #s for the bearings in all the bearing pulleys. I got the info from another member here, I will post it up for you shortly. I will have a step by step bearing replacement how to in my thread - driveway build in the excursion section. Hopefully that helps you out.
Thanks,
Deo

The bearings aren't making noise yet. I already have the grooved pulley that I bought for my 04. I replaced the smooth one and the noise went away so I just kept it. I'm interested in doing the bearing replacement though. I'll just have an extra in the tool box.

My wife has told me the fuel gauge is a little funny. It was between 1/2 and 3/4 and the gauge went up to full. My truck does the same thing except it goes down to empty when it's around 1/4 (its only done it 3 time in the last 15,000 miles). I think the sending unit got a lil sticky in the truck when it was down from August to December last year. Hasn't happened enough to make me worry yet. Any ideas are appreciated.
