Miles per Gallon.

Just purchased 04 excursion with 26,000 miles. Have been getting around 10-11 mpg in town. Towing car and trailer (6,000) was getting 11mpg on highway. Replaced stock air filter with cold air filter. Bought Super Chip and found my best mpg was on Performance Mode 10-11 mpg. Maybe I am expecting better mpg and won't happen because that is what ii is. I love my Excursion. Has anybody experienced the same and did you find a way to get better mpg. I am not looking for more performance as I am better MPG. However, I was told to use the highest setting on chip "Performance" and that would give me better milage. I got about 1 more mpg which my best around town is 11 MPG.
Hopakey!

V10 I am assuming. You are correct on the perf. chip. highest setting will get you the best mileage, if you keep your foot out of the injector.

At least that was the case for me when I had an F150 5.4

You should get a lot better than that. If I drive my 6.0 like I stole it on a hot tune, I still get 13+ in town. If I drive normally, I get more like high 14s. My truck has to weigh at least 1000 pounds more than your Ex, and the axle ratio is the same. I'm assuming you don't have something like 40" tires and a 10" lift. LOL

Since you just got the truck, I'd definitely change both fuel filters. Dirty fuel filters will kill your mileage. Also, I'd change the oil and filter too. The fuel injection is run by oil, and dirty oil can also affect your mileage and is really hard on everything.
