About to Pull the Trigger

I am going to pick up my 05 Ex psd 4x4, it only has 36000 miles.


What I need to know is what are some tuner things I can do to make it a bit more peppee?

I was thinking about an air intake, a chip and maybe an exhaust.

If anyone can give me some of their knowledge that would be great and appreciated


I don't want to be cheap but I don't want to go spend all of my wives purse money

Does it really matter if it is an 04 with 36000 or should I go with the 05 with 44000 miles?


I remember hearing something about the 04 6.0's not being that good, but honestly I am completley ignorant about psd's.

Either one of those could have an issues because of the year...Get an oasis report here from Rodslinger before buying anything...thats the only way to really tell if the truck might be a lemon.
Truth is theres far more good 6.0s out there than problem 6.0s.

WELCOME to the ORG! There are LOADS of things you can do to make a 6.0 more "peppee" - TRUST ME.

1st you need to get a set of guages, to monitor egt, boost and tranny temps that can run from 3-4oo bux but its a must if you want to add power

a turbo back exhaust system is probably the next item to install, it will help lower egts and sound wicked, thatll run ya from 250-700 depending on what yur looking at

then for the power adder, SCT with custom tunes it will give you the best added power, best shifting, best evrything for yur rig, as far as power adders go.

the stock intake is plenty good enough for filtration and air flow for medium hp gains, so you can save yur money on that

and as for the 04-05 decision, its all up to you, i wouldnt be afraid of either one, i have an 04 ex and love the hell out of it

I will try to shorten this story.

Today I went to the Huffines Dealership in Mckinney, Tx. to look at this 04 and 05 Ex they bought at auction. I had my diesel mech meet me over there. I noticed the rust on the 04, Dan showed up and in 5 minutes he said don't walk, run from here. The 04 has been under water and the 05 has been wrecked and the cupping on the tires shows they did not fix it correctly. The manager got bent and asked for Dan to leave. So I took my check book and went to Addison , Tx and bought an 05 with 46K miles that is super clean.

Goes to show you, you get what you pay for.


I pick it up on Monday. Someone will have to show me how to post picks. I am a bit excited.
