2003 ex or a 2005?

Any major reasons I shud get an 05 excursion over an 03? Found a Great deal on an 2003 that I'm having a hard time passing up? I know the high pressure pump are a little different and the turbos. Any other reason I should wait for an 2005?

Don't know of any reasons to get one over the other. I like the 05 front end better but I love my 03 Ex.

Some people will tell you the early 6.0 had more troubles then the later year models. After reading a ton I bought a 03 Excursion and love it. So far it has not given me any problems at all. I am just working my way through the standard fixes for the 6.0 and upgrading where possible. I do want to upgrade to the 05 front end because I think it looks better.

Actually the '05 Ex still has the older style HPOP, only the '05 pickups got the new style HPOP, larger 100mm water pump and better riding coil spring front suspension.

Subscribing. Currently looking for a diesel X. I like the lights in the doors of my gasser 03, as well as the extra center cieling vent. Seems the 05 X doesnt have those features. But I agree I like the 05 front end. Which is an easy add

I hear that as long as you get a job 2 or mid year model 03 your OK, its the super early 03s that had bad injectors/programing, you would think most would have been fixed under warranty over the years.

Extra ceiling vent? Mine has two in front of the second row seats and another two ceiling vents in front of the third row seats. Where did they have the extra vent on the '03? As for the door lights, I'm thinking that with putting lights in the running boards that came on when you opened the doors they thought it wasn't necessary any longer.

Yes my 03 has three over the 2nd row seats and two for the 3rd row. I think 00-03 had the 3 vents for the second row, in 04 they went to 2 in front of second row.

The extra vent is in the center just behind the overhead DVD player. Im guessing it was for the person sitting in the middle to have their own vent. With my quad captains, I just turn the vent to blow towards me while driving. Its nice.
