Tranny shifting hard on any kind of tune??

Question for all of you excursion owners. I have tried many different tunes on my truck, and they all act up and the tranny never goes through the gears smoothly. When in stock mode, goes through the gears and cannot even feel it. I used a bully dog, edge cts, and now using sct. The sct is by far the best one, but still goes through the gears hard on some gears flared on others. I have custom tunes from Bernhausen diesel, but they are not totally custom. One is just a tow with a jake brake on the turbo, and one is a 120 Hp tune instead of sct's canned 100hp tune. So just wondering if any of you guys have the same problem with your trannys going through the gear a bit rough. Sometimes it goes through them nicely when u put ur foot down, sometimes it doesn't. It's all jumbled up. Any input will help!

Thanks in advance.

Virtually all tunes also change some transmission settings. most make the shifts firmer to extend transmission life and handle the increased power.

I think you need to find out what changes are in your specific scheme.

However, if you want to run any tune whatsoever, you are doing transmission damage if you do not increase shift firmness.

Try different tuner, a reputable one preferably.

The OP stated he has used a SCT and an Edge CTS, both are reputable tuners. And he uses a custom tune on his SCT.

I truly do not think there is anything wrong with his tuner.

Bernhausen diesel is reputable? He stated they weren't completely custom. I think it's the tuner, not trans. Good luck either way.

This also makes me think its the tune and not the trans.

I got kind of same problem.
Previous tuner had to make 6 version of the tune before mine shift like it should. Had different kind of issues and that if i can say shift like with sledge hammer... If it was on the mood of shifting some times i need to drive around with only first three gears. And after restart it found the rest of the gears. My current tuner got the shiftig work at the first time but still i think it some times bangs the gears on too hard.

Sounds like it was in limp mode but came out of it. Tow/haul never blinked?

but that issue was only with that previous tuner and tune.
never had an issue when i return stock i give up after 6 th or 7 th version of the tune allways something was wrong and the tuner try and try for free to get it work..
finaly i didnt want to bother the guy anymore and i bought three tunes from Matt.
