Looking at the Excursion???

I had my 2005 F250 stolen from work about a month ago and am looking to replace it. I do not like what I am reading about the new 2008's and I can't find any new 2007's on the west coast so I am thinking about purchasing an Excursion. Can anyone tell me if the 2005 has coil springs up front or were they all leaf's? I saw one last week with an 8" lift and coils up front but I am not sure if it was factory or modified. Also any other items that would be different than the truck. In the family we have owned a 2004 F350 4x4, 2005 F250 4x4, 2006 F350 4x4 and a 2005 F550. I want to stay with the 6.0 because that is what I know but would it be better to look for an older 7.3? I like to do my own work and have owned a good 15 diesels in the 80's and 90's. Mostly 6.2 chevys and Mercedes and am used to getting over 300k out of them. Thanks for your help!

The Excursion never got the coils or the larger brakes that the '05 SD was graced with. Good luck with your search.

man if you could find like an 03 7.3L excursion that would rock... spend a lil extra money and upgrade the front brakes to the SSBC 10 piston setup....thats what i would do.

I tried to talk my wife into getting one a while back, but ended up with a Honda Pilot. Hopefully they'll have a diesel Expedition out in a few years when the boys outgrow the Honda.

Purchased one over the weekend! 2005 Eddie Bauer edition 4x4 6.0 with 45K miles. The first thing I noticed was the performance of the brakes! They are not that great. Any suggestions on upgrades. The rotors look good but the pads are worn. Spent most of the weekend changing fluids and filters.

Also - Thanks for the input!

EX's are cool. Glad to see ya got one. Sorry to hear about the truck getting stolen. Did they ever recover it? I would probably shoot someone in the face if I caught them trying to steal my rig.
