excursion hitch....

ok so on my excursion i've got a class 3 hitch that's rated at 5000lbs. i'd like to be able to tow my bronco to and from the trails. it currently weighs 5600lbs and will probably go up to about 6000lbs once i put the roll cage on...and the dana 60....it looks like i need a class 5 hitch to tow 10,000lbs (truck plus i'm figuring 2000lbs for the trailer). anyone know where i can get one? google seems to pull up lots of forums but no real answers.....

sounds like you ended up with an aftermarket hitch. the OEM hitch is good to 10K lbs.

You might just see if you can find an OEM hitch. Ford dealers are a start. curiously, I only see front mount receivers.

Also - you might check a local camper dealer or trailer store.

checked the ford store. the only ones they sell are class 3 and rated to 5000lbs. i'll keep looking.

You sure about that? I thought all of the Excursions came with the same 10K receiver. Are you sure that it is rated for 5K if you don't use a weight distributing hitch and 10K if you use a weight distributing hitch?

ok im an idiot. i overlooked where it says weight distributing 12,500lbs. thanks to those that tried to help my dumbass. lol. i blame work...haha.
