DVD player problem !
i have the stock set up for the dvd player and rear monitor but i have an after market touch screen dvd player in dash, i have rear dvd power tapped off correct cable and an aux. cable running up thru the ceiling so i can just play off the dash deck but i believe my rear dvd player has failed it began working intermittently a few months ago and now nothing wont turn on.... any helpful advice? has anyone tried to repair these (are there any common circuit failures?) any and all help would be much appreciated !

I've never tried doing anything with these but I would start with the basics. Test all your wires first to make sure that some hasn't happened to one of your connections.
I am thinking I want to upgrade the headunit in my truck, but I can't find anything that will tell me whats compatible with the factory entertainment unit. Sent from my DROID2 using AutoGuide.Com Free App |

in colorado i found a local company that works on them for 50 to 150 bucks...so ill find out today whats wrong.. but as far as the stock head unit and an after market dvd player they just mount right up tap power off whatever (is recommended) and there is direction how to make it bypass the head unit stereo sound when you put in a dvd or cd to the after market dvd player

I talked to a local guy in KC several months ago when I changed my head unit about how to keep the factory one. Mine will blank the screen when it is a certain angle and you hit a bump. anyway - he said they stopped re-building these years ago, as Ford went to differnt design in the Expedition, which used to share hardware. He told me they are pretty good systems, but if they go out now, you are probably going to have to replace. he wanted 350 to re-build them, but said he probably would not do them for long.
your place sounds much more reasonable, let us know about the results, they may be doing some mail order business before long. |

yeah...the guy behind the counter said one price and the tech told me $400!!! because the laser reading eye failed and thats why the unit stopped working in general im not sure how correct he was since i have no where else to take it and i am not paying that.....i did however figure out how to route power and the aux signal directly to the screen from my head unit so im no longer in need of the dvd player but thanks for the reply!

I found several on carpart take outs from junkyards for around 3-400.
There is a guy on ford truck enthusiast that actually swapped his compeletely with an aftermarket DVD player, keeping the OEM screen, used a small pyle brand player that was like 50 bucks. |

I've got a stock head unit, DVD player and screen that I'd be willing to sell. I haven't priced them, so I'm not sure what they're worth.
