Excursion fuel mileage

What's the stock fuel mileage average for an excursion?

I calculated 17.1 out of my 6.0L during a 12 hour stint on I-65 south between Indiana and Florida.

How does that compare? Is that high enough to assume my truck has been tuned? Is it in the stock range?

Is there any viable reason to believe that the Excursions get better mileage than the pickups with our 6.0?

Thank you in advance.

mileage

that sounds about right with ours. It is a stock 05 model. I get 20+ if i stay below 65 or 2,000 rpm. Once i cross 65 or 2,000 it starts dropping off.

I had calculated it on a round trip from Atlanta to Nashville and got 19.033 on my truck completely stock. That was with me running 80 mph most of the time, traffic permitting.

Wow... I can't get anywhere near that mileage. I get about 16.5mpg running 70mph (64indecated @1780rpm). This is driving only highway from Houston to Lubbock. Mostly flat but some hill country...

I calculate 16.4mpg around town. Not sure on highway. I figure 16 in town and it's gotta be better on the highway. Last time I checked highway mileage it was around 19MPG. That was before new FICM so I'm sure it's slightly better now.

My Ex used to get as high as 18.5 mpg with stock tires. Now it gets about 16 with 4.5" lift and 35's cruising 75-80.

I did a 760 mile round trip from San Fran to LA and back and got 17.2mpg there and 16.4 mpg back so an average of about 16.8 combined in my 4x4 with a 4" lift and 33" ProComp tires.

FYI, don't rely on the mileage computer in your Excursion. Some of them are notoriously optimistic. I calculated mine by hand and it was only off by about .35 from the trip computer but other's have seen variations as much as several mpg.

Stock 2wd should do even better.

I hand calculate mine at every fill up. I keep a pad and pen in the door.

I get 15 around town, and 18-22 on the highway, depending on speed. I've gotta go 55 MPH to get 22 MPG. I make 360 mile runs on I35 for work periodically and averaging 70 MPH I usually get 19.5-20 MPG.
