Angry Rear hatch above barn doors will not lock

Has anyone out there ran into this problem. Everything feels right I just can't lock the back of my Excursion......
How or where to begin.......

Take trim off inside of upper hatch. Remove & replace locking solenoid. Not difficult.
I replaced mine last year.

Try to lubricate the frozen latch inside first, at the same time work the key until the latch work freely. Works for me, I follow this thread to fix mine

Rear hatch w/not lock

Found 2 diffrent issues.......
The mechanical latch is worn out, it was hard for me ta believe also. The mechanism that actually locks keeps being put into a bind which caused solenoid to break. None the less 225.00 bks later at the Ford Dealership and I have both pieces plus cables and outer locking mechanisms. According to Ford now these parts come ONLY in a combo kit form... Tomorrow I tackle the install. So far It's been a piece of cake.
