Im new to this forum but am a member of

Heres the deal im towing the stang in a inclosed car trailer 8x24 total weight 7500 lbs.
im doin 60 with the cruise control set i used the steerin wheel control to go a little faster and boom i blew the intercooler. black smoke pourin out the tail pipe had to pull in to an oasis and sent the wife home to get my F-150 to pull the trailer the rest of the way..
what the F I thought i had the truck to do the job why would it blow has anyone blown one. and what now do i upgrade or get a stock replacement.

The truck is a 04 6.0 with 120,000 has a aftermarket intake and thats it maybe some aftermarket exhaust. its got a chome tailpipe if that helps

Did the intercooler rupture? Or did you just lose one of the many, probably oil-soaked and dry intercooler boots?

I've heard of them blowing the endcaps off the intercooler, just not as common as blowing boots off.

Since you will now have to put out some cash for a new intercooler I would put that money towards an aftermarket one! It will do a better job of cooling and also be much stronger!
