newb to 6.0 05 excursion

Hello all, my first post. First just want to say that I have been reading this forum for quite awhile, and have found a ton of useful info. Great forum!

Just picked up a 2005 6.0 Excursion 4x4 limited w/ 60k last week. I had been searching for a good few months until I finally found what I wanted. Love the truck. I have never driven a 6.0 before, everyone always told me that they were alot faster then 7.3. I know the Excursion has to be quite abit heavier than a crewcab f250, but when I couldn't get my truck to spin the tires in the grass, I was scared I had got a lemon. I mean I got it in the grass and HELD the throttle, tried power breaking, nothing. Even pointed it up hill. It runs good when it gets to about 3k and then it shifts at 3.5k. I pulled my expedition and it seemed like didn't struggle at all so that made me feel better. The original owner did tell me that the turbo had been replaced under warantee. I guess what I'm trying to say is, is it normal for the 6.0 to be sluggish on the low end?

The 6.0 is famous for sticking turbo vanes and slow reaction which causes "dead" petal..off from a dead stop. Have it checked out as its under the 100k warrentee. Then get a SCT with Cales tunes..fixes it.

Welcome! Got pics of your Excursion?

I have been hearing A LOT about SCT and Cales tunes. I have the SCT on it's way, then I will be getting ahold of him.

Thats a good looking Ex. It is not normal for you to not be able to spin the tires on the grass. I would start off simple by changing the fuel filters. Then the turbo veins. I would also recommend getting a Sct with Innovatives tunes.

Thank you, I changed the fuel filters as soon as I got it. That might have helped a little. The exhaust helped a little. Im gonna order the SCT soon and think I will go with the innovative tunes.

Do you still have the warranty? If so I would take it in.

I have Innovatives tunes and Cales tunes. There is no comparison. Well worth the extra money for Innovatives.
