05 EXC.. 4X4 light is on and wont go off

the 4X4 light is on and wont go off. it is going in and out of 4X4 but when you are in 2WD the 4X4 light is on. if you put it into low range that lights up like it should. any ideas?

Could be a bad connection at your transfer case plug and/or the sensor

If the 4WD actually stays engaged all the time, there is a piece in the Transfer Case that looks like a hook with a spring on either side. Been known to go bad and cause it to stay engaged all the time. Just some other options if the electronics thing doesnt work out.
