That probably would work. I guess i am used to seeing the 05 and up badges that have the black inserts gone because of washing. The 04- badges don't wear as bad, but it depends on what style you want.

I taped the surrounding area with painters tape. Then used acetone with a 1 inch paint brush and kept going over it until paint was off. Just keep going over it with clean acetone and everything should be good to go.

I tried nail polish remover but that sure diddn't cut it. sucks that the paint peels off the badges though

when i did mine i removed the emblems from the truck. used fishing line and a blow dryer and it went right through. once off, so i didnt have to worry about getting anything on my paint, i used brake cleaner to take off the black. it came off on contact. cleaned em up and used a double sided adhesive, which you can get at any autoparts store, and put them back on. there are holes in the frame and the emblems have pegs so they line up perfectly when you put them back on.

Or you can just go to: Ford Emblems | F150, F250, F350, F450, F550, Mustang, Power Stroke, Ranger, Ovals and order the all chrome badges.

use "denatured alcohol" . rub over badge with a regular course knit rag until the black paint wipes completely off.

excellent also for tar, sap and road line paint removal . wax after removal .

safe for all factory painted surfaces.
