anyone made their own front reciever hitch?

I want to keep the front fog lights, and dont think the bodiak one is strong enuf for mounting a winch to if you are really stuck (pull rating is like 8000 pounds).

Just curious what others have done. Was looking at removing the factory tube cross member below the air dam, and making a new one possibly, out of .25 square tube. Anyone done anything similar?

You thought about a dedicated winch bumper? There are a few out there that are nice. It won't be as cheap as the bodiak though I'm sure. But I doubt you'd have to worry about pulling on them.

buy the extension for the factory bumper from Warren winch co. this moves your factory bumper out about 3 inches and everything mounts inside. Looks great and hides it from everyone.

yeah, i have thought about it, I also have a hidden winch assembly sitting in the garage. I just didnt want to tote the weight of that thing around every day, and have a spare 9000 pound winch with plasma rope in the garage as well. So I figured I could just bring the winch on camping/fishing trips, and use it front and rear.

Really, most times people get stuck, they want to be pulled backwards anyways. I hvae thought about it a lot, and just think that a reciever mount winch makes more sense for me. I also have lots of tube sitting in the garage
