lift height... opinions needed

what do you guys think is a good lift height? i was thinking 8 inches. if i go that height will i lose any of my steering capability. anybody have any drawbacks about going that high? and what brands do you recommend. wont be doing hardcore offroading just some mud, water, and backtrails. dont need ridiculous articulation either. just more ground clearance and a cool stance. i was thinking about the fabtech 6 & 8 inch system NOT the four-link. thanks for all you help

I have a 4" and that is perfectly enough for me. It's already a PITA to drive around here, expecially parking. I had 36" tires and they would rub a little on the inner wheelwells when turning (flat road and under compression). Now I'm running 35"s and I'm perfectly happy. Just remember, the higher you go, the worse your diesel mileage is going to be.

6 to 8" lifts are probably the best looking on Super Duty trucks. They are not "too much" or overdone...IMO

In the latest issue of "Petersen's 4Wheel & Offroad" they listed and reviewed the best lifts on the market. The CST lift got the most points, and is said to be the best in overall ability. It is also one of the more expensive lifts on the market. Rock Krawler 8.5 inch lift is said to have the nicest feeling ride though. In my opinion, if I could do it again I would've gone w/ a CST lift instead of my RCD. I like my RCD, it does the job and have never had to replace anything on it, but I just prefer CST.
